OWL AND THE SPARROW, the award-winning debut feature from filmmaker Stephane Gauger, is a charmingly poignant Vietnamese drama offering a rich panorama of urban life in modern-day Saigon. Using the vibrant bustle of the city as its backdrop, the film details the unexpected connection between a lonely zookeeper, a flight attendant looking for love, and the 10 year-old runaway girl who brings them all together -- if she can just stay one step ahead of the authorities. Universal in its story, particular in its colorful depiction of Vietnamese culture, OWL AND THE SPARROW is a heartwarming contemporary fairy tale of yearning, love, and commitment.
