"MOVING AND ENLIGHTENING. It isn't just the story of a man, but the story of a country and a century." - VARIETY

"A POWERFUL AND TOUCHING documentary about the handsome 'King of Calypso' and civil-rights activist who never quit." - INTERVIEW MAGAZINE

"COMPELLING ... PACKS A WALLOP! Views the extraordinary career of entertainer Harry Belafonte through the prism of his tireless social activism." - THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

Harry Belafonte isn't just a golden voice (his 1956 album Calypso was a million-seller), he is also a celebrated actor of stage and screen, starting out with a Tony Award for his appearance in a Broadway revue in 1953 and headlining with Dorothy Dandridge in Otto Preminger's Carmen Jones a year later. Harlem-born Belafonte's career kicked off just as the American civil rights movement was gaining momentum and he was an active supporter, raising money and organizing marches, as well as being a close friend of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Later, he turned his energies to the Anti-Apartheid movement (supporting exiled South African singer Miriam Makeba) and has campaigned tirelessly against injustice worldwide.
Susanne Rostock's stirring, inspiring documentary SING YOUR SONG is punctuated by outstanding musical performance clips and archival footage from television shows and news reports. But holding our attention center stage is the remarkable Mr. Belafonte, now in his 80s, but still as alluring, charismatic and impassioned as ever.
