ENCOUNTERS AT THE END OF THE WORLD

ENCOUNTERS AT THE END OF THE WORLD movie poster

STARTS FRIDAY, AUGUST 29TH

"Few filmmakers make the end of days seem as hauntingly beautiful as Werner Herzog does in Encounters at the End of the World." - Manhola Dargis, THE NEW YORK TIMES

"The images captured by Herzog and cinematographer Peter Zeitlinger are dazzling all on their own, finding the disorienting psychedelia that is nature at its weirdest." - Mark Olson, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES

Visionary madman director Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man, Aguirre: The Wrath of God) confirms his standing as the poet laureate of men in extreme situations with his startling new documentary ENCOUNTERS AT THE END OF THE WORLD.
In this visually stunning, typically unique (has Herzog ever made a "typical" film?) exploration of man and his relationship to the world around him, Herzog travels to the Antarctic community of McMurdo Station, headquarters of the National Science Foundation and home to eleven hundred people during the austral summer (October-February). Over the course of his journey, Herzog examines both human nature and Mother Nature, juxtaposing breathtaking locations with the profound, surreal, and sometimes absurd experiences of the marine biologists, physicists, plumbers, and truck drivers who choose to form a society as far away from society as one can get.
