"THE MONSTER SQUAD is a cheesy 80s horror movie that plays a bit like The Little Rascals meets the Universal horror characters of years past ... it's incredibly fun and answers one of the eternal questions of classic horror: Yes, The Wolf Man has nards." - BEST HORROR MOVIES.COM

"You know who to call when you have ghosts but who do you call when you have monsters?"
In this affectionately campy 80s horror comedy from director Fred Dekker (Night of the Creeps), a group of Goonies-meet-Ghostbusters kids slug it out with the most famous movie monsters of all time in an all-out battle to save humanity as we know it!
When Count Dracula and his scary pals--Wolfman, Gill-Man, the Mummy, and Frankenstein's Monster--try to take over the world, it's up to the foremost ghoul-busters of the grade school set to stop them. Can the pint-sized Monster Squad prevent the grown-up grotesques from getting their clammy / hairy / slimy / bandaged / stitched-up claws on a magical amulet before they can use its power to destroy the planet? What do you think?
Full of loving references to such classic 30s, 40s and 50s Universal horror movies as Frankenstein and The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and fueled by full-blown 80s teen flick attitude (it's hard to imagine anyone in the original 1941 Wolf Man kicking the title monster in the groin and proclaiming that he has "nards"), this sometimes wacky, sometimes spooky kiddie horror flick has garnered a devoted legion of cult movie fans over the years.
Starring Robby Kiger, Stephen Macht and 11 year-old heartthrob Andre Gower as main Monster Squad-er Sean Crenshaw.

(Fred Dekker, 1987, 82 mins., rated PG-13)
