MOTHER OF TEARS

**Ends Thursday, July 31st**
"...Silly, awkward, vulgar, outlandish, hysterical, inventive, revolting, flamboyant, titillating, ridiculous, mischievous, uproarious, cheap, priceless, tasteless and sublime. This lunatic B-movie extravaganza defies description and dazzles every irreverent, gore-hungry synapse in the brain." - Nathan Lee, THE NEW YORK TIMES
"The Mother of Tears is wild and untamed, a celebratory feat of gonzo artistry." - Stephanie Zacharek, SALON.COM
Oh mother! Italian Master of Horror Dario Argento returns to the big screen with this wild and wooly supernatural thriller that manages to combine sexy witches, nasty zombies, cryptic exorcists, deranged Japanese harpies and an evil monkey into an apocalyptic monster mash that must be seen to be (dis)believed.
MOTHER OF TEARS is the long-awaited finale to Argento's "Three Mothers" horror triology that began with the international blockbuster SUSPIRIA (1977) and continued with the classic INFERNO (1980).
In the heart of modern Rome, an urn is found and brought to a young archeologist, Sarah Mandy (played by cult movie icon Asia Argento). But what Sarah doesn’t know is that the urn belongs to the world’s most powerful witch, the Mother of Tears. She unwittingly unleashes a demonic power intent on destroying the city and everything in its path. Mass insanity and demonic devastation begin to sweep across Rome, as ordinary citizens turn into vicious murderers, and insidious Goth witches from around the world descend upon the city in order to revive the infamous Mother of Tears. When the Mother’s minions and henchman brutally murder Sarah’s co-worker and come after her, she takes refuge with an old priest (Udo Kier, of Andy Warhol's Dracula fame) and discovers her legacy – that her own mother was murdered years before by the Mother of Tears, and that only Sarah has the power to end the destruction. Sarah decides that she must find and stop the Mother before it is too late, leading to a gruesome and terrifying climax in the subterranean bowels of the Rome sewer system.
To avoid fainting, keep repeating: it's only a movie ... it's only a movie ... it's only a movie.
