"Pitched at the divide between poetry and entertainment, THE DARK KNIGHT goes darker and deeper than any Hollywood movie of its comic-book kind." - Manohla Dargis, NEW YORK TIMES
"Why So Serious?"
Inception director Christopher Nolan's mega-blockbuster sequel to his Batman Begins finds the caped crusader coming face to face with his greatest nemesis -- the dreaded Joker. Christian Bale returns to the dual role of Batman/Bruce Wayne, Maggie Gyllenhaal takes over the role of Rachel Dawes (played by Katie Holmes in Batman Begins), and posthumous Oscar-winner Heath Ledger expertly plays the ghoulishly gleeful Joker as a charming maniac who thrusts Gotham into anarchy, forcing Batman ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.
Also starring Aaron Eckhart as D.A. Harvey Dent (soon to morph into the freaky bad guy Two-Face), Gary Oldman as Lt. Jim Gordon and Michael Caine as Bruce Wayne's faithful butler Alfred.
