THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES, this year's Academy Award-winner for Best Foreign Language Film, works as both a thought-provoking philosophical drama and a nail-biting crime thriller. The film spins the story of a recently retired prosecutor who revisits the unsolved rape and murder of a Buenos Aires woman from 30 years earlier, only to discover that the dark crime and its even darker consequences have become deeply intertwined with his own life in ways he never could have imagined.
Helmed by director Juan José Campanella and showcasing two of Argentina's biggest modern stars, Ricardo Darín (Nine Queens, The Aura) and Soledad Villamil (Red Bear, Same Love Same Rain) in the lead roles, this riveting new thriller spiked with witty dialogue and poignant emotion is a film intensely focused on the search for justice and the centrality of memory.
