THE GREATEST CULT MOVIES OF ALL-TIME ARE BACK ON THE BIG SCREEN IN 35 MM!
"A very appealing mix of grotesque humor and wide-eyed innocence ... Tim Burton has captured the sweet ghoulishness of a 12-year-old pouring over horror comics, dreaming of the greatest Halloween costume ever invented." - Dave Kehr, CHICAGO TRIBUNE
"Say it once... Say it twice... But we dare you to say it THREE TIMES!"
Following on the white penny-loafer heels of PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE, director Tim Burton teamed up with star (and future Batman) Michael Keaton for this wacky black comedy about a young couple (Geena Davis and a surprisingly svelte Alec Baldwin) whose premature death leads them to a series of wildly bizarre afterlife exploits. As ghosts in their own New England home, they're faced with the challenge of scaring off the pretentious new owners (Catherine O'Hara and Jeffrey Jones), whose daughter (Winona Ryder in full-on Goth Chick mode) has an affinity for all things morbid. Keaton plays the mischievous, possibly dangerous Beetlejuice, a freelance "bio-exorcist" who's got an evil agenda behind his plot to help the young undead newlyweds.
Stitched together with equal doses of charm, humor and downright ghoulishness, BEETLEJUICE is the perfect vehicle for Tim Burton's wild visual style and twisted imagination, with clever ideas and sight gags (love that afterlife waiting room!) packed into every freaky scene.
