"THE INNKEEPERS is a blood-freezing throwback to the gothic horror films of the seventies." - David Edelstein, NEW YORK MAGAZINE
"At heart an old-fashioned ghost story ... a low-key, slow-burning supernatural tale with several high-impact shocks among the delicate chills." - Kim Newman, SCREEN DAILY
"West's intent is to unsettle, not shock or scare -- until, at long last, the audience gets a good look at what's going bump in the night." - Joe Leydon, VARIETY
"Entertaining ... Horror fans will appreciate a movie that doesn't need to beat them over the heads or eviscerate everyone onscreen to earn a shriek." - John Defore, THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER
"One of the best, smartest, and scariest indie horror films I’ve seen in a long time." - Eli Roth, filmmaker (Cabin Fever, Hostel)
Celebrated genre filmmaker Ti West (THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL) unleashes his latest goosebump-raising frightfest, the spooky, semi-comical supernatural thriller THE INNKEEPERS. After over one hundred years of service, The Yankee Pedlar Inn is shutting its doors for good. The last remaining employees - Claire (Sara Paxton, THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT remake) and Luke (Pat Healy, UNDERTOW) - are determined to uncover proof of what many believe to be one of New England's most haunted hotels. As the Inn's final days draw near, odd guests, including professional psychic Leanne Rease-Jones ('80s icon Kelly McGillis, Top Gun), check in as the pair of minimum wage "ghost hunters" begin to experience strange and alarming events that may ultimately cause them to be mere footnotes in the hotel's long unexplained history.
Eschewing the gory, rapidly-paced, CGI-fueled action which defines many contemporary horror films, Ti West's unique, slow-burn thriller, something of a throwback to such supernatural classics from the '60 and '70s as THE HAUNTING and THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE, builds a delicious atmosphere of tension and "Oh My God, What's Down in the Basement?" dread, seasoned with laughter and witty banter, before unleashing a jump-out-of-your-seat climax that will send you home fearing every little bump in the night.
