Zach (Dane DeHann, True Blood) is devastated by the unexpected snake-related death of his girlfriend, Beth (Aubrey Plaza, Safety Not Guaranteed). However, when Beth miraculously rises from the dead, only slightly worse for wear, Zach realizes he now has a second chance at love, and decides to take full advantage of the opportunity to experience all the things he regretted not doing when Beth was alive. Along with Beth’s parents (John C. Reilly and Molly Shannon), Zach resolves to not over-analyze the strange situation, but rather just enjoy having his beloved Beth back in the land of the living. Unfortunately, the newly returned Beth isn’t quite the way he remembered her, and before long, Zach’s world takes a turn for the much, much worse. In Life After Beth, writer/director Jeff Baena (the screenwriter of David O. Russell’s I Heart Huckabees) jolts fresh new life into the well-worn zombie genre by fusing elements of a young love story and a rampaging monster flick into a wickedly funny and shockingly poignant film that will have you laughing, crying and screaming.
