“NYT CRITICS PICK! Exhilarating … a gift for moviegoers.” - Manohla Dargis, New York Times

“One of the most electrifying films you will ever see.” - Bilge Ebiri, New York Magazine

“Grade A. Glorious! A near-unbeatable contender for the year’s best film.” – Mike D’Angelo, Onion AV Club

From acclaimed filmmaker Leos Carax, director of Pola X and Lovers on the Bridge, comes this utterly unique, utterly uncategorizeable slice of cinematic madness that has been described by critics as everything from “beautiful and unbelievably strange” (Indiewire) to “a visionary, jaw-dropping spectacle” (Onion AV Club) to “completely bonkers” (Variety). From dawn to dusk, we follow a few hours in the life of Monsieur Oscar (played by the incredible Dennis Lavant, Beau Travail), a shadowy character who journeys from one life to the next. He is, in turn, captain of industry, assassin, beggar, monster, family man … He seems to be playing roles, plunging headlong into each part – but where are the cameras? Monsieur Oscar is alone, accompanied only by Céline, the slender blonde woman behind the wheel of the vast engine that transports him through and around Paris. He’s like a conscientious assassin moving from hit to hit, in pursuit of the beautiful gesture, the mysterious driving force, the women and the ghosts of past lives. But where is his true home, his family, his rest? Featuring an eclectic cast including Eva Mendes, French film legend Michel Piccoli and pop diva Kylie Minogue (performing a musical number, naturally!), Holy Motors must truly be seen to be believed.
