Frank is weird and wonderful.” – Peter Debruge, Variety

“Strikingly original. A terrific and sublime experience. Mandatory watching for the adventurous viewer.” – Rodrigo Perez, The Playlist

“Michael Fassbender's performance is a master class … the film is surprisingly resonant.” – Sam Adams, Indiewire

Frank is a uniquely offbeat comedy about a young wannabe musician, Jon (Domhnall Gleeson), who discovers he's bitten off more than he can chew when he joins a band of eccentric pop musicians led by the mysterious and enigmatic Frank (Michael Fassbender, as he’s never been seen before) and his terrifyingly tyrannical sidekick, Clara (Maggie Gyllenhaal). Frank’s uniqueness lies in the fact that he makes music purely for the joy of creating … and because he wears a giant fake head. After a rocky start, Jon ingratiates himself with the band members, and they retreat to a cabin in the woods to record an album. But as Jon’s influence waxes, creative tensions mount, and the band’s entire raison d'être is called into question. Based on the memoir by Jon Roson (The Men Who Stare at Goats) and his experiences working with Frank Sidebottom (the stage persona of real-life cult musician and comedy legend Chris Sievey), Frank is a playfully surreal and oddly funny love letter to outsider art – a highly original rumination on the nature of creativity, artists and all that is musically mysterious.
