Using film to encourage and support intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and creative expression. To provide the tools for understanding and appreciating film as an art form and as text.

FilmLit 101: Film-based Literacy
A basic film analysis course designed to help students develop and improve literacy skills.

Human Rights Watch Film Festival
“Films that bear witness to human rights violations and create a forum for courageous individuals on both sides of the lens to empower audiences with the knowledge that personal commitment can make a difference. The film festival brings to life human rights abuses through storytelling in a way that challenges each individual to empathize and demand justice for all people.” – Human Rights Watch

 

Science on Screen
A film series to connect science to the “everyday”.
Here’s an Arizona Public Media piece on our first Science on Screen presentation:

 

SBS at The Loft
The UA College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, “The People College”, will open one film-based class to the public every semester at The Loft.

 

Coming Soon: Science on Screen Jr.
A series of films for young people that supports STEM curriculum and promotes the understanding and appreciation of science and scientific concepts through film.
